I was wondering if there's a way of getting over the 308 shite before the 2020 euro championships  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzM5BuK6c50

I've learned over the years that things in Ireland are either over before you knew they were taking place, or they happen so slowly that any progress is totally imperceptible to the human eye.

I fear that the revision of the SI regarding restricted calibres is in the latter camp.

Thanks for posting the MLAIC movies - what a great time they were all having there, eh?

...and not a single instance of untoward events, like the range blowing up...what your pals in Phoenix Park might have expected to see happening with all that black powder lying around.

Wnakers, all.

Post Re: MLAIC European Championships Hungary 2019
Once again no Irish team was at the MLAIC European Championships..It is much worse than that, it is laughable as it is stupid that historical disciplines are banned for the wrong reasons, especially when before the firearm regulations changed in 2009, the FCP at the time, was promoting Ireland's history of international black powder rifle shooting. There was every reason to believe a group of shooting enthusiasts would eventually pick-up and take this old form of sports shooting back to where it was one hundred and fifty years ago. Instead, black powder and early smokeless period firearms, useful for promoting the virtues of an old time, slow loading, shooting, was dumped and restricted, because old calibres tend to have the bore over 7.62 mm Nato/ 7.62 Russian /.303"British /.30-1906 and .308" American. They are unbelievably firearms of greater danger to the public than modern non-restricted firearms. Such logic does not deserve to be taken seriously. It suggests the calibre of persons instrumental in some of the firearm legislation changes was not much of an expert to begin with, and their effort leaves a lot to be desired. If the basics were misunderstood, and out of step with the rest of EU norms on the control of firearms, it should not take a great deal of an effort for the FCP to correct the wrong? It was possible to peg .22 handguns at the ISSF five shot standard while remaining in the non-restricted box. Proof if it was needed that small changes to the S.I. are possible depending on who does the asking....viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1248
